Help send MCYC to Rome IN a bid to grace the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod in Rome this October 21, the multi-awarded Mandaue Children and Youth Chorus (MCYC), took center stage and sought for financial assistance from shoppers at Parkmall last May 19.
The Archdiocese of Cebu grants MCYC to be one of the volunteer choirs of the Cebu Archdiocesan Shrine of Blessed Calungsod as the group has been singing at the Eucharistic Celebrations of the shrine since 2004. MCYC's devotion to Blessed Calungsod, a Cebuano missionary and martyr, has been manifested not only in its regular schedule at the shrine but also in the several free concerts it has performed there.
MCYC has joined local and international choir competitions and has always emerged as the champion.
The Center for Cebu Choral Artists Inc. would like to send MCYC to this historic event and chant Te Deum and sing songs of joy during the thanksgiving Mass to be celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter's Basilica.
“We lift our voices to the general public to share their generosity for us to be able to perform on the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod.
All of us are believers of His miracles.
The achievements that we reap are the blessings that come from our faith in Him,” says the choir trainer and conductor Dennis Gregory Sugarol.
Currently, the 30-member choir with five adult companions are raising funds needed to finance their travel and related expenses.
Each of them would need at least P80,000 for airfare, visa requirements, travel tax, terminal fees, board and lodging and internal travel in Rome. At the minimum, the delegation needs P2.9M.
Hence, the members of MCYC are appealing to your generosity to help them raise funds. Catch them as they visit Parkmall, churches and other establishments in Cebu. You may also call 516 1060 or e-mail egcasera@yahoo.com to send your donations.
